Locked colours

Lock a colour to keep it in every version of the pattern, protected from clean-up (e.g. eye colour). Pick it from the preview or press Lock in the colour key.

Print the canvas file at 100% / “actual size”, never “fit to page”. Check the 1-inch bar in the margin with a ruler, and the ticks every 10 stitches against the mesh.

Dithering deliberately scatters stitches; patch merging and edge smoothing will undo most of it, so set patches to 1 and edges off if you want it.

Click a swatch to change its colour, type the thread you’ll use, or remove a colour (its stitches move to the closest remaining one). Changing settings regenerates the pattern and resets these edits, except for locked colours, which keep their colour and thread name.
